Softdocs Partners with AWS to Launch AI‑Powered Intelligent Transcript Processing

Columbia, SC, July 28 —

Softdocs, the leading provider of document management and process automation for public sector, proudly announces Intelligent Transcript Processing, a revolutionary AI-powered application that enables schools to capture data from incoming student transcripts with unprecedented speed and accuracy.

The new application, built in partnership with AWS and leveraging AWS Bedrock’s best-in-class generative AI services, enables admissions, enrollment, and financial aid staff to import, extract, and process student information. Softdocs Intelligent Transcript Processing achieves industry-best velocity that empowers schools to effortlessly disposition waves of incoming transcripts during peak admissions cycles.

Today, reading, transcribing, and formatting student transcripts is a tedious, manual process requiring weeks of staff time during admissions. Until now, the best available technology was template-based OCR, but that requires schools to store templates for every transcript variation. By contrast, Softdocs Intelligent Transcript Processing uses generative AI to read transcripts with human-like nuance, understanding the context of data to accurately parse complex tables, line breaks, and images to export a fully structured dataset in JSON or XML for integration into the school’s SIS and CRM.

Using the application, staff can import transcripts individually or in batches. The AI reads and transcribes student information, flagging fields where it has low confidence in its interpretation. Staff only need to review flagged fields before exporting the data. In many cases, transcripts are processed with zero flagged fields.

The application is entirely cloud-based, and no school or student data is used to train AI models. It complies with FERPA and is certified for NIST and SOC 2.

“Our partnership with AWS has opened entirely new levels of transcript productivity for every school, from K-12 districts to community colleges to research universities,” said Adam Park, Softdocs CEO. “This use of generative AI reinforces our vision of responsible AI – measurable and meaningful productivity enhancements while leaving staff in full control of the process.”
