Measures to Support Accessibility

Softdocs is committed to providing accessible software products and solutions to all users. We believe that technology should be inclusive and accessible to everyone, and we continue to improve our accessibility practices to ensure that our website and products meet the needs of all users.

Softdocs is actively working toward achieving WCAG 2.2 AA compliance across digital tools. We've taken the following measures to ensure accessibility of softdocs.com, which this statement covers:

  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.
  • Appoint an accessibility officer and/or ombudsperson.
  • Provide continual accessibility training for our staff.
  • Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.
  • Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.
  • Train our development teams on accessibility best practices.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. softdocs.com is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Accessibility of softdocs.com relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

Softdocs ensures that our website and software products follow accessibility guidelines, such as:

  • Keyboard accessibility: All functionality, especially navigation, is operable without the use of a mouse.
  • Screen reader compatibility: All content is accessible via screen readers, such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver.
  • Color contrast: All software products will meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard for color contrast.
  • Text alternatives: All non-text content, such as images and multimedia, will have text alternatives that can be read by screen readers.
  • Consistent navigation: All pages will have consistent navigation, allowing users to find and access content easily.
  • Clear and concise language: Page content will use clear and concise language, avoiding technical jargon and complex terms.
  • Minimal motion: Page designs will avoid gratuitous motion, blinking, or scrolljacking.
  • Page speed: Pages will be optimized to load as quickly and efficiently as possible  for low-speed connections and use progressive enhancements to accommodate older browsers and assistive devices.

Limitations and alternatives

Despite best efforts to ensure the accessibility of softdocs.com, there are some limitations. Below is a description of known issues.

Color contrast: Some font colors do not meet a minimum threshold of 3:1 contrast ratio. All informational content maintains a high contrast. Low contrast is only used in with very large font sizes and is often for presentation only.

Video captions: Not all videos have captions available.

Assessment approach

Softdocs assessed the accessibility of softdocs.com via self-evaluation, Google Lighthouse, Axe, and Accessibility Insights.

The site has also been manually reviewed by certified accessibility experts.
